Celebrating 30 Years
Yes, it's true and hard to believe but Dan Smith, our beloved advisor of 30 years, is retiring at the end of 2023. While his student guidance will be sorely missed, we are very happy for him as he heads into new adventures. Besides, he'll still be teaching a few classes! Please read below to learn about the various events we will be having this year. We hope you can attend one of them and wish Dan well in person!

Dan Smith Food & Beverage Teaching Laboratory
Celebrate Dan’s exemplary career in FST by helping to furnish a state-of-the art food science laboratory. As Dan says,
“I am calling on friends and alumni of FST to help me realize the goal of having this state-of the art space filled with equipment to match. It would be gratifying to know that those who succeed me will have all the tools required to create a compelling and fully relevant learning experience every week.”
(Gifts can be made online using above link or via check, wire transfer, securities, qualified charitable distribution (QCD/IRA Rollover) and more by contacting alexis.eichler@osufoundation.org or 541-517-6778. Or reach out to Lisbeth.goddik@oregonstate.edu)
Dan, the Movie, coming soon to theaters near you!
We are creating a video from your responses to the prompt: "How has FST and knowing Dan influenced your life and career?" The plan is to show this at the Fall Tailgater but it will also be posted on our Youtube channel. Here's your chance to send Dan a personal message. Still photos are welcome, too!
Submission guidelines: Videos must be shorter than 30 seconds and labeled with your name and the year you graduated from FST (i.e. joesmith2010.mp4). Same for still photos. Please limit written message (see link below) to 75 words max.
All submissions need to be in by August 1, 2023.
