FST Student Support

Winter 2021 Courses

In keeping with the COVID-19 necessitated decision by OSU to offer 90% of classes via distance winter term, all FST winter quarter undergraduate and 4XX/5XX classes will be delivered either remotely (RL) or via Ecampus.

What is the difference between Remote Learning (RL) and Ecampus?

  • Remote learning classes will have scheduled meetings via Zoom. These will in most cases be supplemented by additional content on Canvas.

Tuition rates are those of "traditional" courses

OSU tuition for traditional classes

  • Ecampus classes are exclusively on Canvas, and are conducted asynchronously. There is not an expectation that students meet together at the site on a regularly scheduled basis.

Tuition is charged at the Ecampus rate

OSU is fortunate to have a strong infrastructure and great expertise in providing distance education.

Those of us teaching in FST are spending significant time, taking advantage of the tools that Zoom and Canvas offer us to redesign our traditionally in-person classes for delivery in this environment.

It is an opportunity for all of us to be creative and discover some teaching/learning opportunities we had not previously considered.

While we all look forward to a hopefully not too distant return to Wiegand Hall, through your efforts and ours, your education and progress toward your degree will continue undeterred by the global pandemic.

Advising

Dan Smith and Dr. Glen Li will be meeting their advisees via Zoom.

Detailed advising information, and links for scheduling and attending Zoom advising meetings, are available to all FST majors and minors at the FST Advising site on Canvas: https://canvas.oregonstate.edu/courses/1591190.

Prospective students seeking program information or guidance should contact Deborah Goulddeborah.gould@oregonstate.edu.

Response Time

Typically, students can expect responses from the Academic Program Coordinator within 24 hours.

While most requests are completed within 24 hours, if a request requires input from outside of the department resolutions may take longer. If outside guidance is sought you will be informed.
